  • This Girl Can

This Girl Can is a celebration of active women who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets. Developed by Sport England, we want to help women overcome the fear of judgement that is stopping too many women and girls from joining in.

We are keen to work with any organisation, but if you are a commercial organisation, a journalist or member of the press, please contact us directly for further information:

  • Social Prescription

Do you want to feel healthier, happier and more involved in your community?

Launched in 2013, ‘My Social Prescription’ is a community based scheme led by Colchester Community Voluntary Services to connect community members to voluntary and community services and volunteers to improve health and wellbeing.  It does this by addressing the social issues that people often approach medical staff, as well as providing support with their health conditions and encouraging self-care.

This is achieved by identifying the most appropriate referral, utilising community assets (i.e. people, services, community resources) to respond to the social need, ultimately improving the quality of life of the patient and family and reducing demand on public services. It also reduces duplication of effort, plus encourages independence and self-care.

The scheme operates across North East Essex. It has been designed to reduce time spent finding the help people need by informing them of the right service, in the right place, first time.  You can contact Social Prescribers in three ways:

    • Call 0800 7311 655
    • E-mail msp@ccvs.org
    • Meet Prescribers face-to-face at one of our onsite visits to GP Surgeries, clinical locations and community events
